I've been bouncing between rather ambitious careers over the last couple of months, the main three contenders have been Filmmaker, Adult filmmaker and going back into education to study for a medicine degree and become a Doctor. Hmmmm.
Being a Doctor would totally rock except i'm not sure i'd make it through the first year let a lone my fiirst dissection, which they actually do y'know, perhaps the thought was just that, a thought. Secondly, who doesn't love porn, who doesn't love girls and who doesn't love film? All my favourite things wrapped into one cute, naked chick. God i love it already. I've been toying with this career path for awhile, not because i'm a dirty perv, alright not just 'cos of that, but i think adult film can offer me more than my present indie filmmaking dreams. After doing a little research i did discover it's not as easy as picking up a camera and paying to people to shag in front of a lense for half an hour, i don't mind sticking with it, the problems i'm having are 1) the stigma that's associated with porn production could limit my future career if i wanted to shoot more mainstream stuff, don't know why we have issues with porn and sexuality in 2007, something i'll never understand and 2) finding models that are cute, sexy and young (over 18 of course) that don't look like barbie or as loose as Ann Widecombe's belly is really hard, in fact i'd say virtually impossible. Lastly filmmaking is all well and good but i don't have the resources (financial or equipment) and finding cast who are good and will work for free is also virtual impossible.
I think my mind is drifting solidly towards Adult filmmaking, not dirty gonzo style productions but classy films using conventional film techniques and cinematography (anyone seen Pirates by Digital Playground?). If i decide Adult film production is the path to take, i could create and own my own production company virtually from the start and begin producing almost straight away. Whereas 'normal' filmmaking would take me a couple years before i could even contemplate a shooting schedule let alone creating a brand or production company.
I have all these ideas for adult films, adult web sites and 'gifts/prizes' for fans of my work that i'm practically smiling. I guess my hesitation comes down to the fact that i care too much what other people think of me. I need direction in my life, to do something with it, before i loose it.
Just another quick point before i fuck off, whatever you think of porn, the sex industry is worth billions, the second largest industry in the world, after tobacco. The U.S alone contributes 244,661,900 Adult web pages (89% of the worldwide market) the U.K a respectable: 8,506,800 (third after U.S and Germany). In 2005 the Adult Industry released 13, 588 hardcore titles, a number that Hollywood is surely jealous of.
What do you guys and gals think? Agony Aunt advice and constructive criticism more than welcome welcome. Anti-porn, religous or human rights speaches strictly prohibited : )

I would think that filming in the adult film industry would have a very short lived career though.
