Emotional Exhaustion

Anyone else get the feeling everyone in their lives is too high maintenance?

Good lord I swear if I have to hear one more complaint from my friends about working with a photographer who I WARNED them was unreliable and very scattered, I am going to scream. We all work together at the studio and they know what she is like as a person and they still agreed to do a shoot together.

Friendship is not business people. What makes people great friends does not make them reliable or quality team members.

Have had two weeks of them all coming to me one by one to complain about the shoot and I just can't handle one more fricken whinge session. Called time on listening to all the drama (basically I just said look today I cant stand listening to anymore about this shoot, I'm getting to the point where its affecting my own work) and then got told that that was unfair of me to do. Holy shit that is so out of line. I warn them all exactly what it will be like and then I'm told I'm selfish because I'm tired of their bitching?

Fuck that shit.

To make things worse both my best friend and my current romantic interest have decided that they are both unhappy with their current lack of direction in their careers but neither want to consider any possible options or different approaches to change things. "Yeh but I don't want to" Almost word for word the same answer when I suggested trying something new to see if that improves things for them. My god if you literally cannot I can understand that, but if you say "I just dont want to try anything" you are actively encouraging the situation to continue without change.

To anyone reading this if there is something in your life or career you don't like : CHANGE IT.

You have the strength to persevere through any hardship this requires.

Complaining without action does literally nothing but waste otherwise constructive energy and annoy those around you.

Changing things to improve your life can be as simple as taking up a new hobby. Taking a day for yourself more regularly. Anything.

In my case its calling timeout on whinge sessions. Happy to listen to people talk about their problems if they want help. If you just want to pointlessly complain so you temporarily feel better and the other person's stress rises then you're just an emotional vampire.

I had a friend who was like this. No matter what I said to help She would would say the opposite then ended up going around in a circle. I ended up cutting her out of my life and it was amazing. Not saying for you to do that, but if you are emotionally strained, take a step back and look after you self first.
