So I guess its about my turn to talk about it :)
But first a little history;
Firstly this for me is the culmination of a quiet little dream I have held for quite some time. I've wanted to shoot a set for submission to Suicide Girls and for @missy and @sean pretty much since I first joined the site. Its the combination of both my love of photography and my love for sassy beautiful women with tattoos.
Shooting with @sunflower has been both a privilege and a lot of fun! When she first approached me about shooting a set I could tell that she was both excited and nervous. Knowing that shooting your first nude set with a male photographer can be extremely daunting, my suggestion was to meet at the studio I work at, get to know each other, make sure we were both comfortable shooting a nude set with the other and see what happened. Sunflower came to the studio and we literally had the most relaxed test shoot.
We talked a lot and laughed about ridiculous nonsense. We ignored the lights, settings and all the high pressure requirements and simply allowed sunflower to get used to moving around in front of the camera. I was deeply impressed with how confident @sunflower was and how she took very little time to warm up and get comfortable in front of the camera. We moved through a few stock poses and sunflower tried out a few from a list I had suggest she compile of poses she liked from other sets.
By the end of the shoot both of us were confident we would make a great team and agreed to shoot a proper set for SG.
My most poignant memory of shooting the set is being cold. Ridiculously cold. For some reason the day was just refusing to be warm. I also got to spend a lot of time fighting with the changing skies, cloud, clear , cloud, half and half. Sunflower just knocked it out of the park for me. She totally understood the idea of moving around the room and changing pose through the set in order to tell a story and keep a timeline. She brought an amazing amount of confidence and energy to such a cold day.
I remember balancing bare foot on a wobbling stool in wet freezing bushes to get the final shot of her looking out the window onto the street fully undressed and just being so proud of what we had accomplished.
I am so proud to say that I know this amazing, kind and wonderful young lady. To check out our Debut set (both as photographer and hopeful) click here
And the story doesn't end there folks. We already have more in the works! So make sure you send Winter Sun some love and lets get @sunflower pink on her very first set!
