So in usual me fashion I tend to drop in and out of blog activity here. I just wind up so busy that I forget that no one knows what im actually doing (assuming they want to in the first place :P).
I turned 25 in May! Kept it pretty low key as most of my friends live interstate/up north these days. A quiet milestone for me really. I managed to catch up with quite a few people in early May before my birthday however so I atleast got to catch up with the important people.
I've spent most of May planning and then shooting my new project for Magazine Submission, It was most definitely a lot of blood sweat and tears. The first session went essentially without a hitch but the second and far larger session (probably why) had a lot of problems on the day despite a very clear shoot outline (4 pages) release forms and continuous stream of emails reminding ppl of the date/day of the shoot and what to bring/do before arriving. I had two models drop out about 15 minutes after we were due to start (one's car broke down and the other just "thought it was tomorrow" despite half a dozen emails reminding her of the date day and time) thankfully my friend who was styling the shoot had a sexy body so she just threw on a swim and hopped in front of the camera for me. she's a serious doll. And the studio I work at also has a "house model" on saturdays so I just forked out the extra cash and paid for a replacement as otherwise I would have had to shoot an additional day and honestly couldnt face another week of organisation.
I've been going to sleep with the damn shoot stuck in my head :P
Other that than it was such an amazing shoot! I had 3 lovely makeup artists creating some gorgeous looks on the girls and our solo hair stylist managed to blast through all four girls and give them mind blowingly awesome hair styles in less time than it took the makeup artists to creative a single makeup look.
It was a freezing day to be shooting (especially for Rachel who we soaked in water for her look) so my assistant and I stealthily stole all the mobile heaters from 3 floors worth of studios :P By the end it was so warm on our floor you could have gone tanning.
I'm not sure if i mentioned in a previous post but i'm currently back doing bar work due to the surplus of photographers doing events for free, however last night despite being really busy I had such a good time behind the bar. I was jumping around and dancing as opposed to being quite reserved and just working fast (a couple of the bar girls even asked what I was on! lol)
The other week I was also lucky enough to shoot @sunflower_ 's debut hopeful set! It's already in the que for member review! She was absolutely lovely to work with depsite it being a freezing cold day and us having the windows open. There must be something about winter that makes me want to shoot people without their clothes on lol.
Speaking of shooting! Ill be an official part of the 2014 Melbourne Shootfest which you can find more info to here .
I'll be offering extremely reasonable rates for hopefuls and of course SG's shoot free. I'll be shooting on digital but also be rolling with my 35mm Pentax ME Super (possibly my 120mm Bronica too) if anyone would like to do some film work and My FujiFilm Instax will be coming along for anyone who wants to be able to make a few limited edition instax's to sell their fans during the shoot fest.
You can find recent examples of my work on my Webpage or on my Facebook page.
My super cheap prices for the shootfest aren't limited to just the SG crowd! While I'm in melbourne Ill be offering my $100 special to anyone who wants to book a shoot with me between the 2nd - 6th of October (small surcharge for film work). For the Non-SG crowd this gets you a 1 hour photoshoot with 5 fully edited, high-resolution, web ready images within a week of my return to Perth.
Looking forward to the rest of June!
