Hello carbon units,
I just finished watching star trek: the motion picture. I really see where it failed and lead wrath of khan to be such a success. Viewing it as a 30 year old movie it's fairly easy to say it was a tad boring. I stand by that how ever when you compare it to some other movies from its time:
How suspensefull was Alien (1979)
An evil looking black car with a supercharger is a
what car? (1979)
Listing epic movies how far down the list do you have to go before you get to the Empire Strikes Back(1980)
Star Trek needed to realize the limits of the effects of the day, and needed a strong villian.
So, to one of the first computer generated effect in movies: the Genesis effect on the planet, and to strong villians in literature (of all types).
