I saw a great movie on TV last night, missed the first 20 minutes which is a shame. It was good enought that here's a review:
Wide Awake (2007)
It has Missy Peregrym As the star, The basic plot being that she gets involved with a drug that bad guys want, and good guys want, Its not really apparent who is which so she has to stay away from both as she finds out. Plain ordanary action movie fodder.
What saves the movie is that she is narcolepic. And for a change in movies and televison (that I have seen anyways) her disability is not show comicaly. As far as I can tell with my wiki doctorate, she has very accurate (severe) Narcolepsy conditions. As Cataplexy can be triggered by fear, anger and surprise, it generaly kicks in for her when the bad guys are closing in, limiting her ability to run for it. She counters this mostly with intellengence and on occasion fakes it ( I think?) to be left alone where she shouldn't be, gaining keys and pharmaceuticals.
Her need to keep moving handicapped by Excessive_Daytime_Sleepiness another symptom. As her prescption for uppers seams to have run out in the start of the movie she is both: falling asleep alot of the time she sits down and taking any stimulant she can, including injected adrenalin. I'll point out that this isn't to the absurd level in crank.
The camera work is never a let down and goes to very good when she is dreaming or hallucinating
The movie wraps up just well enought while still leaving that question in your mind

I also think she looks like Flux
which is why I started to watch what I thought was going to be a bad movie.
