There are a lot of reactionary and idiotic comments thrown around this site, but calling Noam Chomsky (a professor at M.I.T.) an "intellectual dwarf" takes the cake. I hate that dissent gets misconstrued and twisted into anti-Americanism. Its usually the people that claim to love this country the most that react so harshly to anyone who attempts to use the freedoms we supposedly have. Thankfully, not all past and present Americans had or have that attitude, or wed be living in a total fascist state. Its also a very arrogant and misinformed ideology to assume that the U.S. is the only country, and Americans are the only people, that want and work for democracy and freedom. Love it or leave it? No. Love it and want it to realize its fullest potential? Yes.
I dont come to this site to argue with people, although it seems that a lot of folks do. Its not like you can go to Spooky and ask that he try to maintain the sense of community, because unfortunately hes usually knee deep in the name calling, muck throwing contests and macho posturing that goes on here. I dont remember him being so hell bent on pushing his politics in the past. Im not trying to say that opinions should be silenced, but what has come of all this hateful nonsense? Theres a huge difference between discussing a belief and immediately attacking a belief. I despise the assumption that you have to prove your manhood by confrontation. And its not just the guys on the site that are guilty. I recently saw that Lesa called someone a pussy for voicing their opinion, thats tact. The Im smarter mentality and condescending attitude is detracting from what this site claims to be.
On a different note, the video I submitted is going to be screened at the Ann Arbor cinema slam.
