Ok, I may not of found anything.... But I still searched?! So again, may have to make this a continual search whilst still being able to tick the entry off my list.
The scene: Loch Ness, Scotland.
In search of: The infamous Loch Ness Monster - Nessie.
Weather conditions: Good - for Scotland a heatwave of 24°c with little cloud and no breeze.
We set out on a Rib from the beautifully idyllic little village of Fort Augustus. Of course I knew I wouldn't see Nessie, but the kids were super excited about this adventure. Really fast boat ride, around possibly half the Loch. Saw some amazing scenery and local wildlife along with the location where the famous Nessie sighting was taken. I learnt so much about the Loch and was quite keen to ask questions. (Im a total Geek at heart)
Loch Ness is THE biggest Loch in Scotland. Reaching 70 miles and being just over 300ft deep.
The sides of the Loch are vertical making it look like a giants bath if not filled.
There are over 30,000 lochs in Scotland. If you were to take all the water from each, it wouldn't fill the whole of Loch Ness.
An idea of how big the Loch is (and this is my favourite fact 😊) if you took the population of this planet- which is over 70 billion - you could fill the Loch 10 times over.
These are some of the fact we were told, and asked waaaaay more questions. The tour guide was incredibly friendly and was happy to answer. I'd recommend visiting Fort Augustus, even if you don't go on one of the many boat rides they offer and even if you don't see Nessie. It's such a beautiful place, if not just for the drive around it and through the Cairngorm National Park alone. 💗
