OK, this is me updating...
I have trouble updating this thing frequently, because I always want to have something interesting for you guys to read, and well, my life really isn't THAT interesting all the time, I guess. At any rate, onward to the entry!
So, me and my girl were having a discussion about the wrongs and rights of finding fictional characters attractive, or hot. What do you guys think? It seems that this idea has become more and more popular in our society, with such magazines as "the girls of gaming", lara croft calendars, and even playboy has taken on this phenomenon. Is it right to find something or someone that is based entirely in a fictitious and virtual sense hot? Is it somewhat of a social commentary, that people's conception of beauty is moving on from what's pictured on magazine covers to what's based totally in fiction? Is our sense of what's beautiful and attractive so bankrupt? Or is this merely another harmless facet of human fantasy, that just happens to center around pixelated subjects? Our fantasies are never based much in reality. After all, if they were, then they would be reality and not fantasy anymore, right? At any rate, what are YOUR thoughts on the subject?
Secondly, I've been thinking a lot about the "japanese movie" craze. There certainly are a lot of remake films of japanese horror finding their way to the states lately. (Ring, Ring 2, The Grudge, Dark Water...). As a horror movie buff, I'm glad to see american horror movies revitalized with new ideas on what we find terrifying, or just plain unsettling, but I also tend to think that the reason we're taking so much from overseas ideas and rehashing them in our own way, is because our own horror movies have been lacking for a long, long time. It seems like the past few years have just been an endless string of teen slasher flicks rehashed over and over, each with the killer wearing a different costume. Different characters, same plot, same predictable villain, with the same protagonist chick in a push-up bra who is there to do little else than distract you from the fact that you are watching the same crap you watched the last time you went to see a horror movie... *Deep breath* Not that these movies aren't entertaining... in their own way, i guess. everybody needs a little predictability every now and then, but it's like they're not even trying to stray away from this fucking "formula of the horror movie plot"! I wanna see a return to the horror movies that were more psychologically unsettling. The stuff that scared you on a deeper level, not just making you jump momentarily, but making you look over your shoulder nervously on the way home. That's the kind of horror movies I want! Dammit, gimme the fucking camera! At any rate, do you think Japanese horror movie remakes are a good thing or a bad thing? Personally, I think they're a step in the right direction.
And finally, no offense to people who have 'em, but what's with this "gangsta tattoo" thing? Why does it always involve something religious, or something incredibly stupid? (Bullet holes?! C'mon people...) Why does every little gangsta punk think he has to get a cross, or a rosary, or "Only god can judge me"? Is it because you believe these things, or is it because your fave rapper has it, so therefore you have to too? And if you DO believe it, and you're a "true gangsta", do you need these things to remind you that even though your ideas are shit, and you do stupid, sometimes horrible things for an "image", there might be something better for you after this? Maybe you should start thinking, IF there is a god, will he really wanna put up with my ass when i get there, cause I can't. Or maybe I'm just sick of tattooing praying hands...
Until next time, laugh and frolic in your vile meats of evil, MEATS OF EVIL!

i hear they give up the anal on the first date.
at least, that's what i heard.
I've found the current wave of Japanese horror remakes a bit refreshing. Freddy vs. Jason didn't scare me. "The Ring" did. So put my vote down for it being a good thing.
Gangsta tattoos... [shudder]
