freezing rain fell across the city last night
i woke up to a 1/4" layer of ice on everything outside, including the streets and the sidewalks; it's not pretty
we nearly couldn't stop on the bus this morning
and then, once i made it downtown safe and sound, and was crossing the street (at a crosswalk, on the walking man), a lady turned the corner and didn't stop. i had to run to get out of her way so she didn't run me down and kill me. add to that the fact that there's ice blanketing downtown, and it's a gong show
i think i'll stay safely in my house tonight. i don't want to run into anyone or anything with my car and i'd prefer if everyone else exercises the same courtesy (of not running into me)
on a positive note, i'm happy to not be in the hospital this morning. i like being alive and in one piece.
had some kick ass chinese food last night. yum.
the crazy dreams are continuing. last night i dreamed that one of the occupants of our house stole the neighbour's car for a joy ride, then returned it. to get back at us, the neighbour stole my car and wrecked it. i was so mad, and i marched over to his place to tell him off. he proceeded to be a real asshole to me. the funny thing was that the 'neighbour' in my dream is not someone who lives in my neighbourhood and his house was ridiculously nicer than the neighbour's house right now. it was weird. then i woke up again. another restless sleep punctuated by stupid dreams. blah. i've been thinking about taking some sort of sleep aid just so i can actually sleep through the night.
a big thank you to everyone who answers these crazy questions. i appreciate your honesty and the opportunity to get to know you through them.
here's your friday questions:
i. what would be a perfect weekend getaway for you right at this moment? (if someone gave you 1000 bucks and said 'go' what would you do?)
ii. what's your favorite atmospheric phenomena?
iii. name one thing you'd like to change about your life
iv. are you a consumer whore?
my answers:
i. drive to Banff, spend the weekend in the room J and i spent a night in last year, with the fireplace blazing. do some hiking on some of the trails. watch some birds. sleep in the giant comfy bed with the down duvet and just hang out, relaxing with the cell phones shut off and the outside world tuned out for a while.
ii. lightening. or the aurora borealis.
iii. i'd kick out the roommate that lives in our basement and move the good roommate down there so he has more space, i have a guest room, and we could use the basement as an entertainment room instead of cramming everything in the living room/dining room.
iv. i try so hard not to be, but the world screams at me to buy buy buy. a few days a year i give in to it, but it's a struggle.
have a great weekend everyone.

ii. a little part of me always cheers when i wake up to sunshine. sunny with a few clouds makes for great pictures, usually. also, there is nothing better than sunshiney naps.
iii. i'd find that someone special. it doesn't even have to be in a sexual relationship kind of way, though that would be nice. but someone to just connect with, that would be wonderful.
iv. sometimes. more than i'd like to admit. right now i'm trying to justify a $800 dollar lens that i know i'm going to buy, justification or not. so right now, yes.
speaking of sask weather, you should check this out. it's my friend sara who's in yorkton. hope the weather gets better!
