I am the worst band photographer in the world, luckily I left my camera at my brothers on the weekend. So I won't bother you with pages of blurry pictures of people who may or may not be playing guitar/bass/waving thier arms around.
Good shows all though. Asobi Seksu ^^See Above^^ were pretty much one of the loudest bands I have ever seen, louder than Secret Machines and that was damn loud. Metal bands I always find are too concious of the musical balance and drummers need to keep everything quiet to get enough dynamics and articulation at high playing speeds. Space rock and indie post rock are always so damn loud

. I feel I have genuinely sacrificed to go and see them, as there are whole swathes of frequencies I will never hear again post show.
Matthew and I had a few beers in The Pit and Pendulum beforehand as he had never been before heading into The Bodega Social, which is a lovely venue. It has a nice cafe/resturant downstairs and bar with a small-mid stage upstairs (everything truly under one roof, better than Toys-R-Us).
The support was an interesting two piece with a singer song writter and delay addict guitarist, would have been interesting in the earky ninties but we've all moved on I fear, they were unoffensive though and had only been billed that morning due to a pull out.
The Black Keys were totally on form last week, it was a rockin set. Support came from a run of the mill mid west pixie like acoustic girl with a 1970s prog guiatrist and flamboyant bearded jass drummer. The boys were the highlight tbh, making interesting flourishes over an otherwise tedious delve into a cute girls 'I love you so much when your lying next to me I should stop drinking isn't it hot and doesn't it make my voice sound lazy drawl'. I like the sound, but all things in moderation love.
The second support was an australian band, small guy bushy beard, round lady e-drums... lots of loop stations and shouting into mics together. It was a whole lot of fun and writting this has reminded me to find out who they are..... one mo.... Liam Finn. I guess that was the name of the bushy beard man.
There are loads more coming up I wish I was in Notts for... ah well... le sigh... I might have to get used to this lack of big names again, damn it.
It's perfectly audible!
I used to find most music by The Stooges was perfect dirty sex music. My ex even made a mixtape especially for the occasion. Hahaha.
But it takes variety, innit?
I am glad my wee anecdotes inspire you to think of comedy.
