The Boxer Rebellion...

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
This week I have mostly been doing wiki/google/yahoo styleeee research on the imperialism of the late 19C and early 20C...
I had no real idea about the massive amount of political ramblings in southern asia around this time and in the run up to the 14-18 War. Just some rubbish I'd picked up about Chiang Kai Chek and Boxers and something about Opium and red books.
It's all pretty rich and it just goes to show how and why the powers rose into the positions they did and the, honestly, pretty sound reasons for the closing of PRO China's borders to outisiders and the cultural revolution. I suppose the harder you fall the quicker you rise. I mean look at the bounce back of America, China and Germany plus probably others I can't be arsed to read about (yet), post socio-political and violent upheaval. I think maybe that chance to start fresh with a new lease of national morals and ideological fervour do ya good.
I do love that period for the history, the arrogance of industrialism is so powerful, but it wasn't all malicious I don't think. The Brits went to India to , yes rape and pillage, build new trade routes and aquire land for The Empire. But we always alowed a for of home rule and in our quest to 'civilise' the world gave many countries the infrastructure to move themselves through into the modern and information ages. India pretty much skipping massed industrialisation and thus leaving the poor in the fields, unfortunately.
Also... through this research I have also had a good chance to read and acknowledge that the middle east and arabia is pissed for good reason... it's basically all our fault... also with every passing day and news report the more strongly I feel about the Zioists and their quest for a home. Maybe they should have picked somewhere else... I mean, dude... Ayers Rock is pretty holy and there's nobody there!
Once in the uni paper at Brum, The Red Brick, they had a 1 page summery of the issues in Palestine (I still cannot get over the madness of this attempt.. 1 page! Dude! Anywho). It had a timeline that stretched down the right hand side of this page, marking major events in the history, it started at 3000BC....
Good luck Tony! May angels sing your message and the light of peace shine from your big annoying smile... Rather you than me...
This was brought to you by..."I finished my job like 2 months ago and now I'm leaving everyone's telling me to take it easy"... They've all been super lovely at work. My boss gave me a long Dad chat about how it was the right thing to do and it's where I should be heading, they'll be super sorry to see me go, but I can always come back anytime and is there anything they can do or experience they can give me to help in the new job... AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW... heart warming.

I love this time of year! Gigs!
Everyone's on tour again and am taking advantage of the opportunity that will soon be gone... AKA the vibrant scene of Nottingham.
Saw Hell Is For Heroes on friday, which was lovely. It's nice to see those kind of plateaued bands. It was in the small part of rock city and all the people there were hardcore fans. Cosy.
I have The Black Keys tomoz and Asobi Seksu next monday... plus more pipelined. I will update with pics and stuff another time. To make up for it
^ Shot from the last show with my old band at an old bandmates live music night, Transmission, that just apeared on bookface... ahhh... good times. This was the last gig before we kicked out Dick the closet gay guitarist, we played a lot after, but I don't have pictures. Shame I was not stuck permanently behind the boards (low fi set ^ here dude to small stage and I wanted to see the crowd!) coz I was playing guitar to. Ah well. He plays in some NME whore band now and wishes he could recieve the cock... at the show above he actually made out with one of the PA stands, it was not cool, or sexy...
Also... an inside sleave picture form the grunge record I never made....
Mom has a collection of neat wigs and seeing as how we're racing each other to get long hair, we had a play about with em
. The finish line is the shoulder, I'm so gonna beat her...
I thought slash at first... but it's a bit more Seattle methinks

Ten Vs the Vitology of The Binaural...
SPOILERS! (Click to view)
That has nothing to do with anything... least of all anything I'm going to write, but I like it.
You people say funny things... I was humorously but sweetly unsurprised by the reponse to my last blog. It's nice to know when people are all on the same page. I suppose we wouldn't be here or commenting otherwise.... I'm rubbish to... there are two categories of female to man attraction in my humble opinion, 'Oh mum, he's a real man!' and the 'but he's not like all the other boys'... I think I fall into the later.
This week I have been loving...
1. Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night
2. Los Campesinos - Hold On Now... Youngster
3. Mark Lanegan - Bubblegum
4. Emiliana Torrini - Me And Armini
5. Darkthrone - Dark Thrones and Black Flags
6. Slipknot - Vol 3. The Subliminal Verses
7. Secret Machines - Now Here Is Nowhere
Does anyone want to start a band in somerset with me? Here me out... Soundgarden meets funky late era System of a Down via Gatecrasher x freaky jazz + cute indie instruments and the didgeridoo (coz it's a cool word)..... Le sigh... I miss playing music with a rhythm section
... Solo sucks balls and I can't start a band in Notts now! Le deep sigh.
