I have a new job... it's all a bit scary and it's one of those. This could be the best or maybe the worst decision I've ever made. Time might tell, but in my experience Retrospect has an odd way of looking at things and sometimes I don't argree with the narrow mindedness of the guy... I'm pretty good at making the best of something though.
The job is with Augusta Westland, they tried to get me to go down for a meeting in the summer when I was itching over all those other defense companies that I could potentially work for. Well, now they're made a new offer and it's a bit sexier and they convinced me to take the, frankly epic, journey to the southwest wilds to see them. The meeting was really nice the team are a cool bunch of guys, I had a look around the whole department and got to meet everyone and had a brief skit around the hanger floors to see the aircraft. When I arrived they were doing flight control trials for a new piece of kit on the Super Lynx on their personal airstrip, pretty cool.
I have always been a bit interested in flying and was a cadet in my yoooof... lots of free flying and I got to shoot guns, run, jump and climb trees...
Which I think they thought was pretty valid as I already had a pretty good knowledge of their product...
Westland:Apache Not sure how much I agree with the marketing in places, but... still, dead exciting.
I'll be working as an flight test and instrumentation engineer, which basically means strapping things onto or taking a new something for a helicopter and using it till it breaks OR making sure it doesn't break if you do

. Awesome. Hot tests in north africa and cold tests in norway/iceland, contracts in east asia and north america. I really hope I get some travel out of it.
Still going to the final interviews for the energy company stuff, that wouldn't have a start date till next autumn so I'd have time to make a choice. This new post in a temp/perm post for 12 months. Although they say they're pretty keen to invest, so I'm sure they'd offer me a full contract at the end......
The Spanish were rubbish though.
