Good promoters are something that should never be taken for granted.
Played a show with the ever improving The Bee Shocked Qubed on friday to a large and accepting audience at New Art Riot 2, which was lovely. However it was so hoplessly organised, we were asked about half an hour after we were supposed to arrive *insert long story involving trains* that there was equipment missing from the setup that I'd specifically referenced in a reply to an email asking me what might be needed... and breath. The promoter had in a blatant display of school boy err-ing, assumed that the sound engineer would bring instrument amps and and various other pieces of kit. Luckily we had said kit and one of the other bands (the wonderful
Half Day Closing, look them up on myspazz, they rock) had the transport.
The said promoters are, in Nathan Barley terms, idiots. I won't go into detail, but they run a certain night in multicoloured venue in digbeth that does far too well considering the prats that they are. We recieved an email 2 days before the show saying 'you should be grateful you're getting this awesome gig!', because I had asked if they could change the info on the flyer and website. I had asked this because they were conflicting and both wrong!
Still, we might be able to get some more shows out of it... I was still a kiss ass
and they do run other successful nights, even if they are prats I can pretend they're learning and brush idiocy off as slow education
.. Probably not very moral, but.. bleh.
