Myself and Greg (drummer) are leaving Best Toys. Rich came round to my house on monday last week, said he had something to say to me. For start he txted while he was on his way saying he was going to slit my throat, what kind of defensive state did he want me in? (Idiot, but more on that later). I make him tea and have a chat about what work's been like lately, I hadn't seen him in awhile so we had some catching up to do.
Then he says; himself and Alex (guitars) had been talking to a number of other people and had made the decision to kick Greg out of the band and was I still interested in being in their band. Reasons given as, Greg not being commited enough. He's unemployed at the moment and while he is sorting out college things he has to be places at odd times and doesn't have much money. Rich says they can make allowances for me coz I'm a poor student, but not Greg?
Now lets hightlight the faults of character here:
1. Rich and Alex had been discussing this with other people, not me (or Greg for that matter), for some time.
2. Rich spoke to me alone, so was able to put his own spin on the whole story. He had, infact, been at the pub most of the evening with Alex. Odd, I could have been present.
3. He asked me, 'Would I still be interested in being in THEIR band'....
WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN?!

4. He didn't want me to tell Greg till they found a new drummer (like a bitch of a spouse looking to overlap before ditching you).
5. Alex (Rich tells me) had suggested that they not tell me before they found a new drummer. As if it didn't matter who I'd be playing with for the next 10 years (in their minds).
They can go fuck themselves in their asses with 15" black rubber cocks!

Tales Of Battles and Jazz That Have Never But WIll Now Be Fought

Saw Battles on Jools Holland on friday, Dave (TWR manager) has been telling me about them for ages and I hadn't bothered looking them up... fool. They are amazing.
The funny thing here is that I did a solo thing very similar about 2 years ago and couldn't get anyone to join the band. People said, if you wanna hear that kind of music you go to a dirty club, you don't need bands doing it! Then Greg and I did that The Bee Shocked thing as an improv one off and everyone asks to join. Then I see Battles on TV and understand why everyone asked to join us that night, and why every guy with a beard seemed to want to bum me that night, lol. EGO, anywho.
Greg, Quentine and myself are now going to go for it and just start the band we've always wanted. A power trio of improv hardcore, emo, pop, electro and dirty DnB. It's cool coz I'll get to play guitar finally, at Uni I've been a keyboard player many times over and a frustrated guitarist playing bass, but never a guitarist, my principle instrument!
Anywho, yay, and I'll keep you informed for when we get something recorded.

Does anyone feel mega mega jelous of Ewan McGregor's motorbike madnesses?
I wanna proper adventure.
London was fun, it was really good to see some old old friends that still know me shockingly well. I have known these guys since I was 5! It was hard drinking on friday for the Halloween party then a train to London and a whole saturday on the beers followed by a lovely walk around the city on sunday from the best guide I could have asked for, followed by evening beers with said guide. By sunday I had reached this odd plateau where I seemed to stay unhung over not drunk. I see how the AA crowd do it...
Last weekend I went to Oxford to, saw my bro which was nice and the grandparents plus cousin, who is reading politics at Oxford. I have to say reading, I get odd looks for the GPs if I say studying
. We had a nice lunch etc at a cool pub and talked love, life and laundry. Although it was mostly an excuse to see my brother, who is always damn busy, I have to book his time like 2 months in advance. I can't work that far in the future!
