So 2008 wasn't all that great, but 2009 will be all mine!
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: A retrospective for 2008 -
The Good: I'll start with becoming a member of SG! And meeting and becoming friends with alot of the local SG crowd! Going to DarkJuan & Daniel's Memorial day SG bash. And of course developing plenty of crushes on lots of lovel ladies here on SG!
Starting up my paintings again, getting both my teaching license and Ni-dan(second degree black belt) in Yoshinkan Aikido this year, being a big part of hosting a huge Aikido clinic in May with the head of my style from Japan, trying to understand the world of dating(see the Bad for more on this too), and actually doing some dating, kissing, and sex, expanding my ink after many years of delay to go full sleeve on my left arm...still in progress - almost done though, enjoying many yummy brews, mostly from Southern Tier due to new distribution, also brews from Tyranena and Boulevard's Smokestack series of beers were all on the tops of my new brews list, otherwise I stuck with alot of Bell's all summer with Two-Hearted and Oberon, and this fall and winter the fridge has been stocked with Bell's Dbl Cream Stout, SN Celebration and New Holland's The Poet Oatmeal Stout, a new fridge for just beer, enjoyed many new friendships starting, Going to Con-vergence, seeing Flogging Molly - Twice! Taking in the family dog Fletcher for the fall and winter and my brother and his wife and baby boy moving back to MN from AZ!
The Bad: Where to start cuz its mostly big stuff, my seperation and divorce from my marriage of 13 years, the loss of many very good friends who did not stay in contact with me due to the divorce, the divorce stuff is way too spendy as it lead to my financial woes for the rest of the year since about July, my daughter turning 17 and deciding to move out in November, not being able to do alot of things I would normally due to the money woes, dating mostly sucks, but most of it was a self discovery, and I got very lucky more times than not (see above in the Good for more), a couple women developed heavy crushes on me way to quick and made for some uncomfortable parting, parking security beefed up in my area starting this summer leading to having to move my van like three times a day to avoid being ticketed, fighting depression, lonilyness, and pessimism.
The Ugly: filing for personnal bankruptcy, getting a $420 parking ticket and tow, my rent going up, getting the flu in Febuary
Thankful for my family and friends who have stuck it out with me thru this insane amount of change and conflict in my life.
Also reflecting to alot of great people who passed this last year:
Heath Ledger, Betty Page, George Carlin, Bo Diddley, Isacc Hayes, Charlton Heston, Paul Newman, Sydney Pollack, Roy Shneider, Bernie Mac, Estelle Getty, and unfortunately more.
