Hiked through the hollywood hills on tuesday. We started around 7p.m. in the burbank side of griffith park.
Our goal was over the mountain to the other side of the range ending in hollywood. There were really awesome views of the Hollywood sign.
It was an awesome hike. The weather was nice and cool and there wasn't any smog. We took the regular trails to begin with but then went off to some more unusual trails. One was a near vertical drop down of a few hundred feet. We had to hold onto an old water pipe to keep our footing.
After about an hour and a half we reached our goal; Bronson caves! For people around my age we recognize these caves even without knowing it real name. The Batcave is the only name most people call it. It's the cave the batmobile zoomed out of in the old 1960's batman tv show. The hike was the hardest I've ever tried. On the way back we went straight up the mountain on a very loose dirt track. We had to crawl on our hands and knees to keep from falling. We climbed hundreds of feet up and a very sheer cliff was right next to our trail.
It was an awesome hike. Night had fallen halfway through the hike back.
Here's a pic I found of it. (I haven't gotten copies yet of my own pictures.)

Ah, the light at the end of the tunnel.

I've never been up to the caves. It's something I really have to do.
