Who says TV isn't good for you?
For those of you who are new to "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" shame on you. I don't want to know you.
Ok, that's not true. Let me set things up a bit-Buffy is the latest in the line of slayers. Since before recorded history, one girl in all of the world is chosen each generation to guard against the demons that rule the underworld. The slayers work alone, their calling is death, and their lives are short. They are to make no connections to the world they protect.
Until our girl Buffy. Buffy has broken all the rules by maintaining ties to her family, connecting with friends, and letting love, not death, be her guiding force.
The problem is that in doing so she has offended the spirit of the slayer. In a stunning dream sequence (with some of the best cinematography in TV history) Buffy is visited by the first slayer-a savage creature who tries to kill Buffy for her affronts to the slayer history. "Death is your mission" the first slayer hisses at her.
"Things have changes since you left the desert," Buffy snarls back. "There's trees here since you moved out. And I don't sleep on a bed of bones."
I've watched that episode about a dozen times and I think it's remarkable. The idea here is not only Buffy chosing life over death, but simply overturning history because she thinks it's wrong. That's an incredible idea. It doesn't matter of things have always been one way, if you don't like it you can change it.
If you think about that for a minute it's incredibly liberating,
If you don't like it, you can change it.
How is everyone? I want to know for real. What's on your minds?

I didn't really mean to sound like Joey from friends there.
Or did I?
