Happy Halloween!!
I like to wish people a happy Halloween 5 days late. It's kinda my thing.
I don't have a lot to write about so I'll write about this: Sunday I went to an orthodox Jewish wedding. I, as you may know, am neither orthodox nor Jewish. But my friend Karen went to school with the bride, so we went. After the original cocktail hour we were split up- men into one room, women in another- and led into the ceremony on separate sides. From across the room Karen was watching me try to simultaneously stay awake and keep my yarmulke on my head. They should really provide elastic chin straps for us beginners!!! Then I tried to tie my tie around my head to keep it on, like I was a Little Rascal with a toothache, but I thought better of that plan.
After the ceremony, we were led (separately) into the reception room, which was divided by a large partition and we men were on one side and the women on the other. And the dancing began. And I was alone. With a bunch of guys in black hats and beards. After a period of adjustment I became surprisingly well-adjusted to the idea and began to look for men to dance with. I had my eye on a few of the bearded guys and a Mexican busboy who looked like he could totally shake 'em down. To my dismay, however, most of the male dancing consisted of all the guys clasping arms in a circle hopping in unison. Oh well...
On the plus side the food was so good that I have now converted and I only eat kosher. My God!!! I seriously ate everything they had available. They had a HOT DOG STAND!!! I was in line in front of about 12 kids, who were pushing and telling me to hurry up. And I was saying like this: "I'd like one more please. And I'm gonna put one in this pocket. And this one....AND this one. And can I have one more on top of that?"
It was great. I did the same thing with the chocolate chip stand at the end of the night.
But it was a good night. And now I'm Jewish.
This week I was visited by Zeppers and Nikkoletta. Next week is love_Darrow. I'm a lucky fucker
