Damn straight! you seem to be fairly aware. Nostalgia is not only empty, but it carries so much false, retrograde baggage. An opium; used cynically, in a pavlovian manner, often engineered so tightly that putting dorky nostalgia into a film or whatever elicits a calcuated, laugh-track like emotional response in X% of a given demographic. This has to be one of the key ingredients in so many Hollow-wood schmaltz recipies.
