I'm half way through reading the autobiography of Frances Farmer, its really powerful stuff. The horrific ordeal she went though is really unsettling. Reading about the detailed tortures and rapes leave me numb but somehow fascinated how she overcame it all in her mind. It shows how human strength can be expanded beyond your worst fears to cope beyond a nightmare and into a peaceful place. Engrossed with the book, I almost felt the darkness and pain of that nightmare.
On a lighter theme, I went to the beach yesterday. Maybe a bad idea at this time of year but the coldness of the day didn't spoil the mood of the peaceful atmosphere. I sat for a while, just gazing at the perfect horizon. I ran up the steep dunes and felt the sand creep into my shoes.
