Alright, so I looked at the wrong list yesterday, so I'm going to do this Blog Homework for last week super quickly since it's Friday, and because I want to share my stories. What is the most amazing/hilarious/disastrous romantic gesture you have ever pulled off, witnessed, or been the subject of?
Growing up, I didn't have a lot of friends. I was weird, awkward, had glasses, liked anime, parted my hair down the middle, preferred video games over dolls, etc. I also lived way in the country, a good 30 minutes from the Catholic middle school I was going to. So, in fifth grade, there was a new student. I fell in like with him so hard. Cute, dirty blonde, soccer player, instantly popular. My best friend at the time was gorgeous. Blonde, voice of an angel, great artist. So, naturally, he fell in like with her, but she wasn't interested (or acted like she wasn't). So, Valentine's day rolled around and I gave him a valentine with a normal sized package of my favorite candy: Peanut Butter M&Ms. He accepted with a smile and a thanks, and I nervously ran off. Well, lunch time came around, and from the end of the long table we had in the cafeteria, he waves over my best friend. She goes down to see what he wants, and I see him take my valentine off the candy quickly, and once she gets there, he gives her my package of peanut butter M&Ms. Needless to say, I was pretty put off Valentine's Day.
Until the first one I had with my current boyfriend. It was my junior year in college and his senior, and our relationship was at "talking" status for the first eight months of it. This started in October, so when Valentine's Day came around I had no idea what to do. There were a couple other guys who lived in the house, and so their girlfriends had made plans to cook a big dinner for them instead of having them take them out. I was invited to join, and made a paper Pokeball with a paper Charmander (our favorite of the starters) and told him "I choose you!" when he was on break to class, since all the details were inside. Well, I was never able to get a hold of anyone for any information on the dinner, so I was kind of freaking out. Finally, by the time I got a hold of someone, they were already done. I talked to my boyfriend about what happened since I was upset I couldn't do anything for him, to find out he knew where everyone was the whole time but wanted to play video games instead of deal with it. Me, having never had a good experience on this holiday, freaked out and got a six pack of Bud Light Platinum (~super cool~) to ease my pain. A couple hours and some blunts later, I'm feeling better about everything, and then I get a text to come over. Do I go? Do I say fuck it and just give up? So, me being me, went over. Once in his room, he told me to sit down. I gave him a look, and he told me I just had to watch him play this game. So, I started playing. It was WWE-whatever year it was, something he's a huge fan of but had to be converted into. I started watching with him when I discovered CM Punk, who was also his favorite. Then I realized what was going on in the game. There was a girl in the ring, who looked exactly like me at the time. Bright red hair, piercings, eyeliner. His custom character was there too, as well as CM Punk. Virtual Punk is trying to take me away, and here's my virtual boyfriend saying Punk can't take me. In the couple hours I was having my pity party, he was working on making an entire custom storyboard for me. At the end, I was in total happy tears (I'm just a huge crier over everything).
It's just amazing to finally find someone who can make all those bad experiences melt away, and well worth the wait.
xoxo, Beats
