Hello smile So, I've decided to go through my friends list here on SG and see how many people on it are still active on the site and say Hello to the ones that are. So Hello!
beatnikside:
Hello, Liillith! Thanks for checking in. smile

I know, I know. I haven't posted here since before Occupy Wall Street. Hell, the last time I posted here we still thought there as a possibility that Sarah Palin might run for president. In my defense, I've been waylaid by work and anxiety and work anxiety, which is in itself another kind of work. It's all about watching the mailbox now, waiting on the...

I know how you feel. My anxiety is through the roof. I hope you start feeling better soon.

This really does seem to be an exceptionally bleak summer. August is usually at least warmer than this.
Sigh.
Glad you enjoyed your weekend (and life) though! smile

I want to, but alas, I can't. Both shows are packed tight. I even gave up the seat I was given as a show photographer; I'll be sitting on the floor of the stage instead, cross-legged like a kindergartener. If I hear of any tix shaking loose, I promise you'll be the first one to know.
zira:
Thanks! I'll be crossing my fingers.

"My eyes saw red when my life turned blue / so I'm leavin' everything that's true."

No reason for posting this, really; it just popped into my head. And it's always a pleasure to watch two of IRS Records' smartest guys at work. What gives, Stewart Copeland? You used to do a soundtrack a week.

It's the same part of me that doubles down on the losing team, because crushing victories are boring and goddamn it, we deserve something less creepy than Facebook. And then another part remembers: Oh yeah, MySpace is Rupert...

Summer reading: Finished David Matthews' "Kicking Ass and Saving Souls" and Glen Duncan's "The Last Werewolf" and interviewed their authors. Now reading Jon Meacham's "American Lion," a biography of Andrew Jackson. He was a complicated man and no one understood him but his woman, who died the very night of his inauguration. And I think he was a werewolf too.
caia:
Good reading... those seem interesting smile

No matter dark the night, no matter how dire the circumstances, "Under Pressure" always serves to bail me out. The song was released when I was ... what, 12 years old? Long before I fully understood who David Bowie was and what he'd accomplished, and long before anyone knew that Freddie Mercury was concealing his sexuality from stadiums full of hard-rocking homophobes. No matter how...
