So, as I'm standing there in the shower I came up with what I think is one of the greatest questions dealing with The Matrix. We humans were harvested in little pods at birth and then put into larger pods filled with goo to live out our lives as batteries. Never having seen anything at all because even Morpheus says in reply to why Neo's eyes hurt "its the first time you've used them". How then is Neo's or anyone's really residual self image so spot on to how they actually look? They've never seen themselves yet they look almost exactly as they do in the Matrix as they do in real life? Or is the real life they experience in The Matrix (the movie) just another level of The Matrix and they are continuing on with their residual self image?

They do play with the idea of that... but I would say if the machines can make the people see an entire world in the matrix, then why would they not be able to control how they see themselves? And what easier task than how those people look in real life? The machines don't seem to be very creative...

I would agree with you if Morpheus didn't say that it is how your mind perceives yourself. Meaning to me that it's how someones mind decides what they look like uninhibited by machines. That's just my take on it though. You could be right.
