So let me tell you all about Wrap Parties.
When a movie finishes shooting, a portion of the budget is used to throw a kickass bash for the cast and crew to celebrate.
Last night was the "Spider-Man 2" wrap party.
A large chunk of the money goes towards the booze. These parties are usually open bar.
So, I got completely shitfaced.
This particular party was at a bowling alley, so my coworkers and I bowled our asses off.
I lost, miserably. I didn't bowl that bad at the Punk Rock Bowling Tournament back in February. I dunno what happened to me last night.
There was also a casino set up, and everyone got a $100 chip when they came to the party. I lost it all on craps. Then my freind Nora loaned me a $5 chip and I won $150 playing blackjack, only to be informed that it wasn't good for cash, but raffle tickets.
Then, I ran into Bill Nunn who some of you may know as Radio Raheem from "Do the Right Thing." He plays a character in the Spidey movies, but to me he'll always be Radio Raheem. So, I gushed about how "Do the Right Thing" is one of my favorite movies and that he rocks. He and his friends started asking me all these questions about comic books and we had a merry old time.
I also sang "It's the Same Old Song" at the karaoke machine and dedicated it to Todd Eckhardt, the deceased guitarist from the Pietasters, who covered the song. No one knew what the hell I was talking about. I can't sing to save my life but I gave it a go. By that point everyone was too drunk to care that I sucked and got into it.
Sam Raimi wasn't there, because he was out of town, which was the only downer of the night.
So yeah, Wrap Parties are the shit.
