Not even the horrible traffic Shalome and I encountered on our way back into town this evening ( 1 1/2 hours to go thirteen fucking miles) could keep this weekend from being awesome. We drove North on Saturday, and spent Saturday night about 20 miles into the wilderness outside of Napa at a house in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of our friends from SF.
There was wine. There was liquor. There were shooting stars (thank you, Perseids). There was a pool. There was breakfast.
Thanks, Requiem, for being a fantastic host once again.
We decided to take a leisurely drive home, so we made our way to San Jose and took the 101 south through the hills rather than the 5 through the featureless Central Valley. The scenery was beautiful, the drive wasn't as difficult as the coastal PCH route, and that trip really made our weekend, despite the afore-mentioned horrendous traffic.
So. Much. Driving....Wow. I think I put about 1000 miles on my car this weekend. Luckily, my car gets pretty good mileage.
bean!

There is very little that is much more frustrating than Bay Area traffic. A year of commuting from Oaklalnd to SF every day burned that fact into my brain forever. Glad to hear it didn't spoil your otherwise enjoyable weekend.
