My mom rocks so much, it's not even funny.
Seriously. She rocks more than your mom. Nothing against your mom, that is. I'm sure your mom may very well be pretty damn great. But seriously, I have the greatest mom ever.
So Shalome and I go out to visit her for mother's day, and of course they hit it off really well, because my mom has always been totally supportive of everything I do and, well, Shal and I are so much alike it's scary, so naturally my mom took a liking to her.
I made some badass spinach and mushroom quesadillas with garlic and roasted bell peppers and whatnot, and they were soooooooo good. Then after dinner we all sat around talking and whatnot, and as we were getting ready to leave my mom points out that she got a bill for one of my student loans, and that she checked into what the payoff amount would be and said she was thinking about just paying it off for me. I felt bad about letting her do that, since my parents never really had much money and I didn't want her to spend the $2000+ that was left on my loan. I had mentioned that I desperately needed a laptop earlier though, so she said "Hey, why don't I just get you the laptop then, since that's what you really need?" and proceeded to fund the Buy Bean a Brand-Spanking-New iBook Project in full. She said (only partially joking) that it was to make up for all the birthdays and christmases that I got shortchanged because they didn't have money. Oh my god I almost got down and kissed her feet right there.
So yeah, tomorrow I'll finally be ordering my very own Apple laptop. It's probably going to be the best iBook available, though I'm still weighing my options as far as powerbooks go (which aren't many).
Have I mentioned that 2003 can suck my left nut because 2004 kicks so much ass?
And isn't mother's day supposed to be the day moms receive gifts?
I hope you all had a great mother's day too.
UPDATE Mon, 5/10 3:30pm:
Hehehe. I bought the 15" Powerbook instead. Muwahahaha! It'll be here in a couple days.
I was going to get the 14" iBook with 768MB of ram along with a 160GB portable firewire drive, but at that point the price was just $200 less than the 15" PB with 512MB ram, and I just couldn't pass up the additional features...mainly the higher resolution, ability to have a second monitor (the ibook only supports mirroring), gigabit ethernet, firewire 800, and additional expansion options.
Whee!!! It should be here just before prom, hopefully before I leave.
bean!
