Today, Shalome and I became foster dog parents. Actually, we signed up last weekend, after one of our neighbors who works for a rescue organization encouraged us to check it out. But tonight we went down to the adoption event where the rescue shelter takes their dogs to [hopefully] be adopted, and our neighbor told us there was a perfect dog for us back at her house (she takes some of the fosters home to take care of them until they can be placed). So we went home, got a call a little later, and went down the block to meet Leo, the mid-sized mutt. He's definitely part pit bull, but nobody knows what the other part is, whether it's bulldog, boxer, or some sort of hound. We'll have him for a couple of weeks, unless he gets adopted between now and then.
Anyhow, he's awesome. He doesn't bark. He just wants to lean on you and be petted. Also, he snores. Really, the snory sound is just about the only sound he makes, and he makes it when he's going for a walk (sniffing at the ground, sounding like the idling engine of a muscle car) or sighing (though he sounds more like a pig sometimes). Right now he's laying on the couch behind me with his head wedged between my back and the back of the couch. Here are a few pics:
