So Wendi and I had this really long talk tonight over dinner right before we saw Finding Nemo. We came to the conclusion that we're both freaks of nature who are really better off as best friends than husband & wife. Seriously. Apparently, our marriage ruined our friendship. It stifled us. We're both wildly independent (she, moreso than I) which is what drew us together, but ultimately made living together impossible. We don't look at this as a failed marriage, but as a successful friendship. We're both really happy about getting our feelings about how unhappy we both were off our chests, and we're looking forward to being great friends again.
That said, I'm really not sure how I feel right now. I'm sad, but relieved. I'm afraid, but hopeful. I'm excited about the future I might have, but sad about the future I could've had. I need to live for myself right now though. Wendi needs to live for herself right now. We both agree on that, so we're remarkably mellow about the whole situation.
When we finally started talking about it, we were both like "Phew! I feel the same way! Wow. I've been holding back because I wasn't sure how you'd react." It was actually kinda funny, and very refreshing. It was like a weight had been lifted off of our shoulders. It was really weird. We both agreed it was the strangest conversation we'd ever had.
Yep, we're weird. I know. Total freaks. Whatever.
I'm gonna party up a storm this summer. That's for damn sure.
By the way, Finding Nemo was great. It's got some serious vegetarian undertones, which I thought was just brilliant, but it's such a cute, silly movie too. If you like to play with kids, or if you can just be silly, for one night (come on, it won't kill you), you'll enjoy this movie. We both loved it.
