What a weekend! As I said in my last entry it was my friend Bindy's birthday on Saturay so we stayed in a hotel in the city and went to see a band. The hotel room turned out to be a two bedroom apartment with oven, dishwasher, washer and dryer, stereo and dvd player (we really only used the stereo but it was cool knowing those things were there). We had our own little balcony where we sat and drank champagne and just basked in the general fabulousness of the place.
Friends picked us up (I LOVE designated drivers!) and we made our way to the Green Square hotel. IMO the Green Square would be an ok venue if it wasn't in the middle of nowhere. The Fort boys had a pretty decent crowd considering it was so far away from the main drag. We got to catch up with some friends we hadn't seen for awhile, including the guys from the support band, who we went to school with. The lowest point of the night was definitely when the bar staff cut into their set half way to announce last drinks. I thought that was really shitty form. After that it was off to get something to eat and then to a pub in Newtown. Got to chat with some of the guys from the band and now I have a stupid girl crush on one of the guitarists. Back to our posho digs about 4:00am, drunk and very giggly.
My boy rang at 8:30am to tell me that his mum's best friend (and his godmother) had died the night before. She had cancer and was in a great deal of pain so it would have been a blessing if she didn't have a nine year old daughter. Once I'd heard that I just wanted to get home. We stopped for a coffee on the way and I locked myself in the bathroom for a couple of minutes and cried. I didn't know her all that well but thinking about her daughter made me lose it. Anyway, I finally got home and went to my boy's house for the BBQ, which although it was a bit of a subdued affair was still fun and cheered me up heaps.
Drank all day yesterday to 'celebrate' ANZAC Day and had to go to school today feeling like something you would scrape off the bottom of your shoe. Now that the school holidays are over, I've realised that I did approxiamtely NO WORK WHATSOEVER so I'm gonna have my work cut out for me for the next week or so. If you don't hear from me for awhile, it's because I'm a lazy shit who leaves everything till the last minute and would rather look at Internet porn than mark 100 tests on Shark Bay in WA (but then who wouldn't?)
Hey, just added some photos from the weekend. Warning: some of the pictures featured may contain drunken women
