Camping was INCREDIBLE, the weather was awesome, the people were awesome, beer was great, the cooking excellent (nothing beats campfire cooking). and oh my god the views and hiking. i haven't been up many mountian ranges. just the cascades and mt.fuji. mt.fuji was beautiful in its own right, but it was still mostly volcano which meant little or no plant life. and it was 12, 400 ft high. well above the tree line. but i am in love with the olympic rainforest. we hiked up a few smaller mountians all about 5280 ft high. the highest we got was 5540. but the ranges and the trees and rivers and the glaciers in the distance were breath taking. i will get pictures when i can. we even got within 10 ft of a small herd of deer (1 4-point buck, 2 does, and 1 fawn) it was incredible. we weren't trying to get close but the trail took us that way, and being on a pretty shear hill side we didn't wanna go off trail. but man it was so awesome, we are now planning a 44 mile hike from the bottom of the park to the top. it is similar to a path an expedition called the "press party expedition" took in the early 1800's. it took the 6 months to cross the range but with the trails and maps it only takes about 3 or 4 days. i am looking forward to it. but we need to do work ups. so we are going to do day trails, just 10 or 12 miles and keep building and organizing till we are ready next june or july for this trail. man just talking about it gets my adrenaline going. well i am gonna go watch football. laters i guess i am becoming a pirate mountianman now hehehehehehe
