i'm still in shock over how many beautiful women were at gen con, and the number of them in arm- and lip-locks with fat pasty geeks. if only some of them would move to san francisco...
"when i was heading back to the marriott on sunday afternoon i passed by a girl with essentially a gauze strip for a top and a tiny white miniskirt. almost had a heart attack."
tonight i got to hear Bon Jovi, Lita Ford, and the Misfits during the dance set. big props to DJs Cubra Libre and Nako. Thursday night is fast becoming my favorite night.
now, where does one go in the east bay to hear metal??
after only six months in brooklyn, i've moved to oakland to work at the reopened mile high club (formerly eli's mile high).
y'all should come check out the club. speak easily (burlesque/vaudeville) on tuesday nights, supper club wednesdays, dj/dance music on thursdays, and live independent music on fridays and saturdays. i'll be the guy at the door and the one... Read More
attention sgny! i would like to meet y'all. but i am not mr journal and groups man, so i fear my application will be denied. maybe ask some of my friends for references! \m/
i vouch for him, too. he is one of the most excellent young men i've ever known. if i had more daughters, i would encourage them to try their luck, because he is a catch!
mild spoiler warning...
the closing credits were brilliant.
three of the characters had rather unlikely personalities and that really annoyed me (the mean guard, the dumb mean guard & the sarcastic weasel). i appreciated what they were trying to do with them, but they were too over the top.
i like how the took some time off to enjoy having an entire mall's resouces at their disposal. also: the musak was great, and made me think of gta: vice city. you'd think they'd have ben able to pick up some bite-resistant clothing in the mall, though, and with all that zombie blood flying around i'd have worn safety goggles. am i thinking too hard?
oh and the celebrity look-alike thing! awesome! and so very wrong! and awesome!
was in SF this weekend. i see o and s5 about once every six months, so when it does happen, the conversation is fun and fresh.
just applied for a job in Sydney. i'd prefer to spend the rest of the year in New York before the massive effort of moving a household across the ocean, but i sure do miss Australia. would be pretty... Read More
I love the Three of Cups. I got totally hammered there once while the DJ played a lot of good metal. Then someone pushed me over on the couch, poured beer all over my face and kissed me.
tunes: iron and wine,"the creek drank the cradle" - now i have indie cred!
am in brooklyn for good now. making contact with friends i haven't seen in a long time and with new folks in various scenes. hopefully will meet some sgny's at some point soon. have been meaning to sticker around the slope, should get on that.
Live venue in Brooklyn I happen to be partial to Northsix,as always it depends on whose coming. Just heard someone play me a demo of Iron and Wine's new album coming out in March by the way, sounds like it may put the Creek Drank the Cradle to shame.
in Brooklyn for the weekend. found a place this afternoon, looks like i'll be moving in on Jan 1. wandering through snowy streets, super fun. exhausted now, partying with other SF expats later tonight. New Yorkers please say hi!
I saw her! The Fifth Element girl! Crazy indeed.
