Last night I listened to a belligerent vegan slam poet pontificate on the sins of corporate America whilst casting blame on eyes-closed citizens for allowing urban terrorism to run rampant through the foster homes of this country. By the end of his invective, members of the crowd had given up the chant of Steak! Steak! for rolling cheers in blind support for (what I can only assume they didnt recognize as) their own inbred and socialized evils. Angry people with charisma have a way of making other people angry. Happy people with charisma have a way of getting people to buy them drinks. If I was a slam poet, Id string off a clever list of ways we can all focus on the positive in life and stay mellow without pot.
If I was a Buddhist
I was also speaking with my girlfriend at length about Buddhism. About selfless goals, contentment, and green tea. Yesterday afternoon I saw the ocean and thought about little else.
I met friends at a bar earlier in the evening. Every one of them had had a bad day for one reason or another. Luckily none of them were vegan so we ate a lot of fried calamari. If I was an appetizer
After lunch yesterday a woman on Haight Street interviewed me for a documentary about corporate sponsorship in popular culture. We talked about video games, of all things. I think my hair looked pretty good for the camera, but I was facing the sun and started to break a sweat early on. Hope she didnt think the discussion about licensing music for sports-related games was making me nervous. If I was making a documentary it would be about people who made documentaries. And how theyre all a little silly.
I spoke with a lot of people yesterday. And listened to a few more. It was a good day off.
