So, one of the actors in my show unintentionally insulted me last night and I can't seem to get over it. We were joking around about the fact that he is married to an Equity (professional) stage manager and that I must be brave for agreeing to work with him. I leaned over and jokingly whispered to him, "It's my first time." To which he replied, "Yeah, I can tell."
No big deal, right? It was one of those self-deprecating moments when you downplay all the work you have done so that you save yourself from being too proud or at least excuse yourself from any mistakes you might have made. But his response spread through me over the course of the evening. It's like a little like a fungus of self-consciousness. I shouldn't let it get to me, but it did.
In other news, I am tearing some new hairs out getting ready for two new articles for the magazine I write for. I am not sure what I was thinking but I managed to schedule all of my biggest committments for the summer for the next two weeks.
Geez. Somebody throw me a rope...and while you're at it, throw me some whiskey too.

Well - you saw my first stage show ever, so I guess I had some of the same issues you may be dealing with - you just have more responsibility.
Let me say this - if he said it in a kind way, then I suppose he was trying to be homely and make you comfortable - telling you, "ya I know it's your first time, but I'm here to help and I'll take all your cues and orders with a big smile."
However, these people are few and far between. So, if you want me to kick his ass - I'll gladly do so. If not - then you and I can get absolutely hammered after your final performance biggrin my treat smile. I can also bring some rope...
And let me know if you need any help with thems papers - eye kan rite gude shocked
