Day 7, Playlist #7, "HOMETOWN PRIDE"
Ok, all y'all. This is my last playlist for the week. It's been an interesting little journey. It's funny how music can change you. (Or maybe you choose certain music based on your place in life) That reminds me of a movie quote...
"What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?" (from High Fidelity, of course)
Today, I was thinking about the Portland music scene and feeling a little hometown pride. There's a lot of good stuff coming out of PDX these days...
1. AM Radio- Everclear
2. Plan A- The Dandy Warhols
3. All Hands On The Bad One- Sleater-Kinney
4. Need More Time- The Epoxies
5. Abba Gadda Davida- Storm & The Balls (no recording of this, but check it out on MySpace)
6. Make Me- The Jolenes (ditto and check out "Physical" from the earlier playlist while you're there)
7. (Were All) Synthesized- The Epoxies
8. Saint Simon- The Shins
9. A Call To Apathy- The Shins
10. Toledo- Man of the Year
11. Apology Song- The Decemberists
12. Happiness/The Gondola Man- Elliott Smith
13. Wilderness- Sleater-Kinney
14. Bohemian Like You- The Dandy Warhols
15. Angel, Won't You Call Me- Decemberists
17. We Used To Be Friends- The Dandy Warhols
18. Because (Beatles cover)- Elliott Smith

It's strange that it's one of my favourites, but I don't own it on DvD.
I have to make do with the book!
