Oh my god. I am the biggest ding dong ever! I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to edit these video things when it turns out I have a program on my computer that does it for me. Huh. I'm smart.
So here they are....me in all my dorkiness....don't say I didn't warn you.

Day 7, Playlist #7, "HOMETOWN PRIDE"

Ok, all y'all. This is my last playlist for the week. It's been an interesting little journey. It's funny how music can change you. (Or maybe you choose certain music based on your place in life) That reminds me of a movie quote...
"What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or...

"An old movie from your childhood"? I _just_ (as in this morning) bought a copy of that for an old friend's 5 month old baby (who I just met last night). My girlfriend and I listen to it ALL the time. And then we get sad, because apparently there was a point about 25 years ago when it looked like things were going to turn out okay. And here we are.

causy:
I love that movie.
It's strange that it's one of my favourites, but I don't own it on DvD.
I have to make do with the book!

The sun is shining on my shoulders today. It's beautiful in Portland today and I am feeling languid and slinky and all together good. It feels like the kind of day when it would be lovely just to sit in the sun sipping mint juleps and contemplating the feel of the sun on your skin. It's also puuurrrfect for...

Lyrics running through my brain...

She says "wake up, it's no use pretending
I'll keep stealing, breathing her.
Birds are leaving over autumn's ending
One of us will die inside these arms
Eyes wide open, naked as we came
One will spread our ashes 'round the yard

She says "If I leave before you, darling
Don't you waste me in the ground"
I lay smiling...

Yay! I'm back from the cabin.

It was beautiful and peaceful and probably just what I needed. I considered going to the local lodge (Whistling Jack's) to have a drink and mix with the locals/skiers, but the snow and ice kept me cabin-bound.
So, I spent a lot of time reading, sitting on the porch swing and watching the river, playing games and basically doing...

Yay! I am off to L.A. tomorrow for the rest of the week. Of course, much of my time there will be consumed by a journalism conference, but I can assure you that some fun will be had. (I promise there will be pictures!)

Am I really as busy as I feel, or is my brain just running on dial-up? I miss seeing humans that are not trapped inside my computer screen.
Well, it's midterms and I am in the midst of planning this major city-wide audition and working at the paper and...well, you get the idea.
Here's the down and dirty update:

I had a lovely time at...

Working on a new article....and you can help! biggrin

Tell me about your ancestry. Did you grow up hearing tales about your great-great grandfather, grandmother, etc.?

Where do you come from?

If you could find out through genetic testing the exact origin of your DNA, would you want to? Even if it meant learning that all those things you believe about your heritage might be untrue?

My paternal grandfather left my grandmother when my father was very young. He was never spoken of. This has become an all-consuming mystery to me and one day I will actually pay the money to get the records and do the research. Otherwise, I'm Irish, Scottish and English by way of Canada. smile
