Saturday 26th February - Adelaide
The road trip begins with 8 chicks from the UK. 3 Scots Becs, Maz & Trish and 5 amazing Essex girls Me, Jenny, Jo, Nina and Laura. We caught a flight from Melbourne airport to Adelaide. Becs and Jo had arrived as some stupidly early time in the morning hehe!! So they picked the rest of us up at the airport and we checked into a hostel. Once we dumped the bags we went off to a wild life park. We all got to hold a koala called Molly. Loads of different animals saw my first kangaroo. Afterwards we went to find some alcohol for the evening/trip. How hard do u think it would be to find a bottle shop or Safeways open at 7pm on a Saturday night???? A bloody nightmare!! We eventually found one and stocked up. Back to the hostel were we had a few drinking games on the balcony. We got moaned at by some old boy living there so we decided to head out but with a difference. We split into teams and had a three legged race which then turned into the amazing race during the road trip. It was the funniest night. Trish and I clearly won; I think we were the only pair not to fall over during the course of the race. I got refused entry into a club due to my fashionable tats... what a joke!! We ended up in some Japanese karaoke bar/club. Danced about a bit, before staggering home to bed.
Sunday 27th March Down to Grampians
We had a few problems with the owners of the hostel. Massive argument about making a noise, drinking in the hostel and leaving the room in a mess which resulted in us not getting our key deposit back. She threatened to call all the other hostels along the great ocean road; apparently they are in touch with each other. It was only 20 bucks so we left but not without sticking our fingers up at her when we drove past. We went to an adventure park were we carried on the amazing race. The activities were paddle biking, canoeing, go-karting, and sliding, etc. To be honest Trish and I just wiped the board clean, nobody else stood a chance. Afterwards, I drove us for hours and hours to Naracoorte. Booked into the Commercial Hotel and got some food. We had an evening in the hotels bar were we played darts all night.
Monday 28th February - Naracoorte Caves
We went to Naracoorte caves in the morning. It was freezing but I had been in caves before so I was prepared with my jumper on. We then drove for hours again and made our way to The Grampians. We found the information centre and they gave us an address for some places to stay. We ended up in this huge cabin that had an outdoor swimming pool and our own bbq area. Chilled out with some beers and a wee bbq before ending up in a cake fight. Jo was covered in cake but she didnt stand a chance with Maz and Nina against her. Maz couldnt believe how much cake got wasted. She a wee cake monster!!
Tuesday 1st March The Grampians
We only had one day at the Grampians but we managed to squeeze it in. We trekked for miles and miles but it was all worth it. Amazing views from the top of mountains. We went to McKenzie falls, were Becs, Nina and I had a wee dip in the water. It was freezing cold to start off with, as it was a nice hot day. We drove to our next stop over in Warrambool were we stayed in a church looking hostel. Jenny had been chatting about staying a night over at a church, so she was in her element. We had at the hostel a massive TV and DVDs, we were in heaven. Got pizza delivered with a few beers before heading off to bed.
Wednesday 2nd March Great Ocean Road
We all got up early for the last time as we were making our way home today along the Great Ocean Road. It was another great day. The views were yet again amazing. We saw the 12 Apostles, rock formations. We did the photo shoot under the Great Oceans Road sign, played in the Ocean and sat in a few cafes along the way enjoying the food. Jo was in her element with the rock formations, not sure if anybody else could understand but we did find out that Maz has a thing for mud!!
