By Jefferson's standards, the American experiment is long past-due for a renewal. Judging by what he actually did in his life, he would probably be OK with another revolution at this point. He knew their experiment in democracy couldn't go on forever without falling into corruption, and he also knew that his own generation was exceptional, but that he couldn't count on the future. The line about the blood of patriots and tyrants always gets me, although anybody who wants true change for the better had better make sure that the revolution is nonviolent, along Gandhian lines. There is a lot of potential at this moment, but we cannot let this momentum turn in a violent direction as happened in the late 60's. Are you politically-involved?
