Yesterday was my last day living in the same county in Pennsylvania that has been my home since 1979. I lived in several places in the area and there is one house that is the place I think of when I think of home. Sure, I moved away several times, to go to college, temporary travel assignments for work, long term travel assignments for work, etc..., but it wasn't permanent. Its official, I'm no longer a Northampton County resident. I left the small part of Pennsylvania where my family has lived since 1740. From now on, I'm going to move every 3 to 6 months and go wherever work sends me until I either go back to school or find someone or something that makes it worth staying in one place.
Its about time I got rid of my apartment since I'm only there a few days a month. What's the point of paying for rent and utilities on a place where my stuff sits without me most of the time?
I donated quite a bit of furniture, some appliances, and a ton of clothes to the Salvation Army. The few things I wanted to keep I put in storage and I took a smaller portion of my stuff with me.
Sure, I'll go back to visit my friends in the area, stop by a few favorite pubs and restaurants, and also get some great food items that can only be purchased locally, but I don't think I'll be going back to live there any time soon or ever again.
