Merry Fucking New Year
On the way to work today my car started overheating. I got off the highway and realised smoke was coming out from underneath the hood. I pulled off the road, stopped the car. Waited a bit, tried to start it again, wouldn't turn on. Waited a while longer, popped the hood, put some antifreeze in (this has been a daily thing, as the temperature gauge has been spiking constantly), and started the car up.
Drove to my mechanic. They came back in and told me the car was gone, it wouldn't even start now. The antifreeze had been pouring into the cylinders and had shot the motor. They said minimum it would be $700-$800. In a million years, I wouldn't put that into that car.
So at approximately 2 pm today my 1991 Honda Civic DX was declared D.O.A.
I had to call off work for both today and tomorrow. I've been looking online and in the paper all day. I can't afford to get a car at a dealer, because I make no fucking money. $1000 is all I can afford, and really that's pushing it. We asked my granddad and a family friend and neither could help.
The worst part is when I call around tomorrow, if I find anything I don't even have a way to get somewhere to look at the car. I have no idea what to do.
And that's not the worst part actually. Classes start next week. And most of my classes are evening classes, so I can't take the bus because it doesn't run that late. If I don't have a car I'll have to withdraw from them, which means I can't graduate this year.
All of this is finally sinking in, and I think I'm about ready to cry.
I did get a three-mile walk in today though, as I had to walk home from the repair shop. So that was nice.
