So last night was one of the greatest of my short life of 25 years. Why, you ask? I was at Game 2 of the World Series, that's why. My company got 3 tickets from one of our vendors so they raffled off a chance for 2 employees to go to the game with the president of the company and the vendor rep. And I won, bitches! So the Pres, Matt, a kid in our engineering dept, and I got to go. It was fucking incredible. When I read the email announcing I had won I actually yelled "HOLY FUCK!" at the top of my lungs. Luckily there weren't many people in the store at the time. Matt and I became instant celebrities at work after the email went out. My contractors were having a hard time getting through because of all the people calling to congratulate me or curse my name. I can't do justice to how truly awesome it was. We rode up in the Pres' BMW (holy shit that's a nice car. You so much as look at the gas pedal and you're doing 110 and it corners like it's on rails) and when we got to Boston had dinner on the rep's dime at a swanky restaurant on Boylston St. Then we walked over to the game and the rep paid for all the T-shirts, hats, etc that we wanted. Once inside we all got our free World Sries towels (rock on) and immediately hit the purveyors of frothy goodness. We drank and ate all night also on the rep's company card and had the time of our lives. I'll post pics once I get them uploaded. It was a nailbiter of a game but I loved every second of it. I mean, I've been to plenty of Sox games but this was game 2 of the World Series, just incredible. We were in dead-center field 4 rows back from the wall. I got some great pictures of Schilling and varitek warming up in the bullpen. I could have spit in there from where we were sitting, no problem. You could feel the excitement of the fans like static electricity, it was nuts. And the way the crowd went apeshit when Papelbon came in just can't be described, you had to be there. I even took part in singing Swee Caroline when they played it despite hating Neil Diamond. We hit a bar across the street afterwards for another beer and to let the crowds thin out a bit. On the way home the Pres really opened that car up. We were passing people like they were standing still. All in all an absolutely fantastic night. I finally walked through the door here at home at 3:15. Luckily the Pres had called into his secretary on the way up to call Matt's and my managers to let them know we didn't have to show up until noon, which was great because it allowed me to get almost a full night's sleep. Now I just need to find a frame for the ticket.
