It was a wet day in Brisbane for the second Australian edition of Knotfest. So my friend and I decided to arrive late as there weren't really any bands we were interested in until around 3PM. I don't drink AT, OR before festivals, so the day leading up was just chilled, chatting about Pantera and their legacy. Having never had the chance to see the OG band, this was the best we were going to get.
So we get there at about 3:30, and Asking Alexandria hit the stage. Their set is 🔥🔥🔥 and whip the crowd into a frenzy. We are getting merch at this point, so no photo's were taken.
The Hu
The rain was coming down while these guys were playing, so it kind of added to their stage show. They have an incredible presence on stage, with their Mongolian instruments and light show really adding an epic feel to the music. Their crowd interactions get everyone fired up. There's a Metallica cover, and crowd participation for Wolf Totem. These guys are a must see live.
Lamb of God.
This was my 14th time seeing these groove metal legends! Bur it had been about 7 years since the last time I saw them. But man oh man. They have not lost their intensity live, whipping the crowd into a frenzy and setting us up for Disturbed and Pantera. These guys are incredible, and I will no doubt see them a 15th time next time they are in the country.
Disturbed
David Draiman knows how to control a stage. His presence on stage is extremely powerful. The guy doesn't have to do much to be a force on stage. Standing there with his fist in the air during 10000 fists, and having all in attendance raise their fists in the air. These guys put on a World class show with their rise in popularity with their amazing cover of Sound of Silence. In which is performed with incredible power. David is in top form, ripping through the classics, and a few new ones. With Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, taking on the enormous task of taking on Ann Wilson's parts of Don't Tell Me. In which she does beautifully. They finish up with Inside the fire, with Benji Webbe of Skindred joining them on stage.
Pantera.
It's time for the headliner. This has been a controversial tour. We all know that Vinnie Paul didn't want to do this. Due to his hate for Phil, and the fact his brother was murdered on stage in front of him. But Zakk and Charlie are two incredible replacements. Unfortunately there are sound issues during the first sing. But it's fixed pretty quickly. Honestly, if you are on the fence about seeing them, just do it! I was gobsmacked by how incredible all members were sounding. Phil's vocals sound as good as they ever have. The setlist is chocked full with classics including, Fucking hostile, I'm Broken, Floods, Walk, and my favourite Pantera song Hollow gets played. Honestly, one of the best metal shows I have ever seen. I never thought I'd get to see these songs live. So seeing them made my metal heart happy!
Knotfest 2024 was epic.
Slipknot have already been announced for the 2025 edition. So I am already keen for Knotfest 2025 😈🤘
