Today is the first day my kidneys aren't causing me much obvious discomfort. I spent Friday and all weekend being careful how I moved or not moving much at all to save myself from pain. Each day has been a little better than the last. Yesterday I walked around for 1-2 hours and the movement of walking jostled them quite a bit so they were more sore in the evening then they were in the morning. So it's nice to feel like they're making more progress today.
Last night was great. I got to see Conan O'Brien on his tour! I begged, pleaded, and jokingly guilted Hydrophilic into giving me his spare ticket because I missed out on buying my own before they sold out. It paid off and I got to go! (Thanks!!!) Reggie Watts was the opening act. He did this skit and I will have it stuck in my head for the rest of the week
On Saturday, I fly to Atlanta for 10 days. My sister and her hubby are having their first vacation alone together in over 6 years and they're going to Mexico. Her hubby's work sends their employees on vacation every year and this year is Mexico. My sister had to pay a bit to go, but I'm glad she'll have a chance to get away from the kids for a few days. Which is where I come into play. For about 5 days of my visit, I'll be watching my 6 year old nephew and 2 1/2 year old niece (3 in July) on my own. I haven't seen them since last July (besides video chat here and there). I'm really excited to see them, and although I take care of kids for a living, the thought that I'll have so many more responsibilities than usual, watching them 24/7, and literally signing papers to turn over power of attorney and guardianship over them to me while my sister is gone... it's pretty nerve wracking. Still, I know we'll manage, we'll do great, and the kids are great kids and love me. I'm excited for all the hugs and kisses I'll get from my niece, and for the sound of my nephews laughter and to see those beautiful blue eyes again.
