I've been thinking more and more about massage school over the past week. I think I've even picked a school too. Although I hate driving to the area of Seattle it's located in cause I have to pass through industrial areas and crappy, confusing roads (which I know I'll get used to), but the area itself is a really nice and just down the road from the water with an open view of the distant mountains across the water in the West. The program I would be doing starts in May/June and takes place every other weekend (Sat and Sun, 8am-6:30pm), sometimes consecutive weekends, and would last a full year since it's so spread out (the M-F course lasts only 7 months). This would allow me to still work during the week and wouldn't take up all of my weekends. I'm also excited for the prospect of being able to leave class and just go straight to the water to study and watch the sunset before going home (depending on the time of the year of course). But what has me really excited is the Gross Anatomy Workshop which is a one time 6 hour weekend workshop of dissecting human cadavers! Cadavers!
Not only do all the things I mentioned above point me towards this school, but of the 3 schools' websites that I clicked on the "request more info" button, they're the only school that actually called me up and has already sent me their catalog in the mail. It just feels like a good fit overall. I'm becoming more and more sure that this is something I want to do, even if it's just a stepping stone to something bigger, and I actually feel motivation to do it.
