I suppose I should update this thing, eh?
*Having my sister, niece, and nephew visit was awesome. I'm so glad I got to see them again so soon and for so long. They left last Wednesday. I miss them tons already.
*Went to Phoenix last Thursday to Monday night. Too short of a trip, but good to see a few people. Would have seen more people if I had the time. But I of course squeezed in a hair appointment with the only person I trust to cut my hair and has been cutting it since I was 13 or 14 (so 8 or 9 years now). She's a family friend (daughter of my mom's fellow nurse and long-time friend and my sister babysat her almost 5 year old daughter during her 1st year). I would cut my own hair in between Phx visits because the one time I went to a salon in Seattle and took pictures of the cut I wanted, they effed it up completely. I ended up going home and fixing it myself. But now that I'm growing it out, I just let it grow between visits and have her trim and shape it when I visit and update her on the family.
*Got home after midnight, didn't get much sleep before waking at 9:30 to work at 10:30. The outside temp was almost 100* and the inside of the house? About 92*. The AC in the house I nanny in was broken and by mid afternoon, the AC repairman decided it needed a new part. It was just about unbearable inside and outside wasn't going to be any better. It ended up being a 12 hour work day for me because it was the boss-dad's B-day and they went out with another couple and left their 2 kids (girls, ages 5 and nearly 3) with me for the last 4 hours of my shift. Usually the kid I watch, who turned 3 last month, goes to bed by 8. Well, I knew that wasn't going to be the case and it was going to be a long night. She didn't crash until 10pm and the parents didn't arrive until 10:30 when I was expecting to get off between 9:30 and 10. I felt soo gross and disgusting that I immediately hopped into the shower after I got home at 11:15pm. I was wrecked for the day. Today it's 100* or hotter everywhere around Seattle. The AC repairman came back today, fixed the AC, which now blows cold air but not as strong as it should. I brought my own standing fan from home and it's at leave bearable with a semi-working AC and 2 standing fans running... one pointed directly as us nearly constantly. For Seattle, it's shocking when the temp get higher than 94* during the Summer. I wouldn't be surprised if we're breaking records this week.
*Boss-mom and the kid are going to be in Sweden all next week and until the following Wednesday. With no work, I resorted to letting the agency (that I scarcely make myself available for these days) know that I'm available for temp jobs during that time. I don't have a lot of faith in that they'll provide me with hours lately so I'm not holding my breath. The one advantage to mom being my landlord is that she understands that my employers have been out of town so much lately that I haven't been getting my normal hours for over a month now. I always manage to catch up, but the full rent amount might come a little late. I've arranged with her that if the agency doesn't give me enough hours, I'll work for her on days that the agency can't provide me with work. My mom is getting the front porch completely redone and has added a little patio in the front yard. We're DIY-ing some of it to save her some money. I expect I'll be shovelling top soil from the pile in the driveway and stomping it down throughout the whole front yard and probably painting. I think I would almost prefer that, even in this heat, over agency work. I just don't feel like watching random kids all week.
*I've been reading one book after another lately. And they've all pretty much ended up being books that have now been turned into movies *shrug*. In the past 2 months, I've read Into the Wild (liked it), The Time Traveler's Wife (loved it), My Sister's Keeper (eh, it was alright), which I just finished last night, and I've just started The Reader today. Three out of four of those were picked up at airports due to the traveling I've been doing lately.
Alright, blah blah blah, nonsense. I'll save you and stop writing Ciao.

So me and the Mr will most likely (almost 80% chance) be stationed at Ft. Lewis. Is that near you???
Hey What happened to BB??? Here account expired. Do you know if she is coming back?
