I went on a bike ride earlier this evening. My sister left her bike behind when she moved and I had been meaning to clean it up and ride it for months now. Today I finally got around to it. I bought biking pants/capris, a helmet, and got the tires filled up today. I was excited to ride so I called up a friend who had taken me riding once before about 2 years ago and asked him if he'd join me for a test ride. It's been nearly exactly a year since I rode a bike (2 or 3 days off, last time was during my first 3 days in Italy and I arrived in Italy May 28th). Before that, I've only ridden a bike a handful of times in the past several years. For my first time out in so long, I think I managed quite well... 11 miles total. Most of it was on pretty level ground. There's a pretty flat, paved trail here that wraps around the lake and down through North Seattle (map). I did 8 miles on the trail (roundtrip) and the other 3 (which weren't so flat and level) were between my house and the trail. I took a long hot bath when I got home, so hopefully that will help with the soreness.
Finally! A doctor that's actually doing something! I went to a new Naturopath on Monday concerning my lymph node issue. I like her, not to mention she's also a Midwife, so if I stick with her as my primary care physician, I might use her as my Midwife someday. She didn't discourage me from taking a blood allergy test like the last one, she examined me more thoroughly than any of the last 2 (or 3?) docs have, and she got the bright idea to send me to get an ultrasound! I've been telling my mom for months that I want something visual done, not just poking and prodding and speculating. I didn't even have to tell her that I wanted and ultrasound or some kind of scans done, she brought it up first. Though, this ultrasound could be prompted by new information my mom waited to tell me until about 3 weeks ago. Turns out, my mom had a nearly baseball sized cyst removed from her right ovary when she was about 23. Why my mom didn't think to mention it until now, I have no idea. Considering when I first discovered it, 2 1/2 year ago, I thought it could possibly be my ovary since it's about the same spot, she should have mentioned it then. So I go in for my ultrasound on Monday morning before work and should get my allergy results back within the next 2 weeks. Hopefully this is all a step in the right direction, towards finally figuring this out so I know what to do about it.
