I bought my first ticket for my trip the other night
I've finally settled on the dates for my trip... beginning and ending dates, fly days between European countries, and when I should probably move on to the next country once I'm in continental Europe. I've also decided to spend 2 days in NYC on my way back home. I've picked my tickets out and everything. Now all I have to do is figure out when the best time to buy them is.
So, my itinerary now looks like this...
April 9th - leave for Dublin, Ireland and arrive the next morning.
April 16th - fly to Edinburgh, Scotland in the morning (this is the ticket I bought)
April 30th - fly to Amsterdam, Netherlands late morning
May 4th - Head down to Belgium
May 8th - Move on to France
May 16th - Over to Switzerland
May 20th - Head to Italy
*I'm giving myself 5 days leeway on my way to Italy so that I'm in Italy by May 25th for sure
June 18th - Fly from Rome to Dublin for return flight in the evening
June 19th - Fly from Dublin to NYC in the morning
June 21st - Fly home to Seattle
10 full weeks in Europe
I've got a friend who just left for a year in Germany last Friday and I'm probably going to make a quick trip to visit him while I'm there if I can. He didn't graduate HS on purpose so that he could take this trip and spend his "super senior year" in Germany in an exchange program. He's right outside of Freiburg for the first half of his stay (very SW corner of Germany, very convenient for me), but he may be sent somewhere else for the 2nd half because that's all his host family wants to keep him for. I hope he doesn't get sent too far into Germany because that would be oh so inconvenient.
Now I just need to find a job and come up with nearly $8000 by the end of March
