I was just thinking, as seen by my post, that hollywood has basically gone to shit. Here is my opinion reasoning why:
They are re-making (instead of just re-storing and re-mastering the classics) all of the outdated classics unnecessarily when they could just restore the film to better quality and resale it on blue ray. Trying to make profit off of it, or trying to appeal the classics to a new generation, whatever the reason, it's bullshit, the classics are called classics for a reason, not so that they can be horribly over produced in a re-make that people usually just forget about anyway.
There is no originality anymore, the stories seem to branch off of eachother, in some way shape or form.. mostly when writers try to combine different movies together I.E. "it's Harry Potter meets E.T." or some stupid shit like that.. if I wanted to, I would just watch Harry Potter or E.T. not this new garbage that tries to be what it can't be because it's already been done before. Change the dialouge, change the settings, and the actors.. doesn't change that the movies still feel the same no matter what.
3D has gone haywire. What is it with 3D films now? Ever since James Cameron released "Avatar", it's like EVERY MOVIE is now in 3D, which is only there to charge you an extra three dollars for the ticket and in the end, hurting your vision, and getting shitty, unclear quality. 2D is the way to go, it always will be, 3D has failed miserably.
Now, onto my list of movies that I think are originals and can't be touched (the way they were directed, shot, dialouge, any aspect of it):
Fight Club
Seven
Nightmare Before Christmas
E.T. (which was attempted in another light for the newer generation "Super 8", craptastic)
District 9
Casino
Back to the Future
The Hitcher (original)
The Thing (original)
Old Boy
Requiem for a Dream
30 Days of Night
Nightmare on Elm Street (first one, original)
Pi
Identity
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (series)
Just to name a few.. Original, has major playback capabilities.
