For anyone who gives a shit about art
I'm doing a skull study to fuck around with some new possible enhancements and changes to my painting style.
Here's steps 1 and 2 in my painting technique.
(I gotta produce, now!)
I've got a sketch which I'll scan, of a skull.
Then I took a canvas, and then I took marble dust, mixed it with gesso, applied a few layers, scraped it with a rounded razor blade and sanded. It has the same feel as a dry eggshell.
The next step is to transfer the outline to the canvas with brown ink. Dip pen time!
It's then to tone the canvas with an olive made up of ivory black, yellow ochre and red ochre. I'll be doing that now with walnut oil. I'm diverging from the technique I learned using turps and damar varnish... I'm trying Vassari's method of using nothing but walnut oil. WISH ME LUCK.
I will continue posting pics of this project as they continue.
