Well the service went smoothly. We had to pick up a car load of friends & lead them to the place where the service was being held. They drove really slow, but we didn't lose them.
There were quite a few people present including cousins of my wife who had been living in Cramerton, NC for the past 20 years. We never knew we were there. But they called up out of the blue after seeing the obit in the local paper. Nice folks...

My wife composed the service for her Mom & she did a great job. I think that most people were moved to tears. I was admonished by my wife for not accepting communion. But I've never been a Catholic & my spirituality has nothing to do with organized religion. I felt it would be hypocritical to take part in a meaningless ritual, meaningless to me at any rate.



The wake was held at The Cheesecake Factory. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, then spent about 2 hours eating drinking & sharing stories about Helene & the rest of my wife's family. The Cheesecake Factory does not make good Mojitos. I had some Ahi tuna carpaccio & a large burrito. I think that divine intervention interceded to help me eat that enormous amount of food.
